Onions Galore

After Sundays back breaking rotavating, and today's raking and weed pulling, I have at last managed to get my first crop in the ground. It's Japanese Onions. Don't know why Japanese, but my fellow allotmenteers tell me they are good ones for planting at this time of year ready for spring. I layed my line, dug a furrow, placed the onion sets in and watered like BillyO. Then i covered them with my lovely fine soil and watered them again. Only time will tell. Wish me luck. It's a momentous time for me. Ha ha .

Steves chicken pen should be here in 2 weeks so we will get building the house soon. It's a mansion that cost £150!!!!!! The pen is a massive £400 so this had better be an ongoing hobby. Eggs for sale by request (free range of course) ........ ( I need to recoup (haha, coup...coop... ok then) some of the initial outlay).

Anyway, my beloved Steve literally saved my life on Sunday afternoon. I was driving us all, (Steve, James, Richard and myself) to a Ploughing Festival in North Lincs, when a tiny piece of sweet got stuck in my airway and completely blocked it. I was terrified because i could not get any air in at all. I pulled over onto the hard shoulder and steve shouted at me to get out the car. For once i did as i was told. He thought i was just choking a bit, but says when he saw my face was purple and my eyes bulging and just a slight high pitched whistle coming from my mouth he realised i was really in trouble. He immediately went behind me and did an abdominal thrust, twice in quick succession. Richard got out of the car to help, but Steve managed on his own. Luckily it worked and after about an hour i was ok again, except for a sore throat. It could have been an absolute disaster. I later read that if you are asphyxiated you will have brain damage in 2 minutes and death in 3 minutes if the item is not dislodged. Phew...... Anyway, he says we are quits now, after i gave him one of my kidneys and now he has helped me.
As you can see it's been a busy old weekend. See you next time folks..
