Poultry Post

Hi, at last i'm back online again. We've done so much since the last entry. We've erected a 12' x 7' polytunnel, dug over more ground and covered it with plack polythene until next spring. I wish we had a video of us doing these jobs. We work for 5 minutes and sit down for 10. I've planted more veg and have started planning next years crops. Hopefully this will include, peas, beans, sweetcorn, cabbage, carrots and courgettes. Also sweetpeas and freesias for the house.
The best news is the arrival of the long awaited chicken pen and consequently the hens. I'll introduce you to them: 2 Warrens (brown) named Henny and Penny, 2 Daisy Belles (Grey) named Flapper and Sweetie and 2 White Sussex named Rosie and Daisy. We've had them for 5 days and so far have had 2 eggs per day, so 4 are not doing their jobs, but i'll give them time to settle in. Also some are not quite old enough to lay, but should be ok in about 3 weeks. Yesterday i saw an egg layed, and took it home and had it soft boiled with soldiers 20 minutes after laying. Delicious.
